Privacy Policy

gitspine is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data and never sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data We Collect

License Validation

When you activate a license or during periodic validation, gitspine sends a request to our payment processor (Lemon Squeezy) containing only:

• Your license key
• A unique instance identifier (generated locally)

This is used solely to verify your license is valid. No repository data, file contents, commit history, or other information from your system is transmitted.

Data Stored Locally

gitspine stores the following data locally on your machine in ~/.config/gg/license.json:

• First run timestamp (for trial period calculation)
• License key (if activated)
• Last validation timestamp
• Validation status
• Customer name (from Lemon Squeezy, for display purposes)

This file is stored with standard user permissions and is not transmitted anywhere.

Data We Do Not Collect

gitspine does not collect:

• Repository contents or commit history
• File paths or names
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Crash reports
• Git credentials or authentication tokens
• System information beyond what's needed for the application to run

Network Activity

gitspine makes network requests only to:

• api.lemonsqueezy.com - License validation (HTTPS only)

License validation occurs at first run (for trial), upon license activation, and periodically (approximately every 48 hours) when the application is launched. If the network is unavailable, previously validated licenses continue to work offline for up to 30 days.

Third-Party Services

We use Lemon Squeezy for payment processing and license management. When you purchase a license, your payment information is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy according to their privacy policy. We do not have access to your payment card details.

Data Retention

Local configuration data remains on your machine until you delete it. We retain license records in Lemon Squeezy for the duration of your subscription plus any legally required retention period.

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete local configuration by removing ~/.config/gg/
• Request deletion of your license records by contacting us
• Request information about what data we hold
